I have been wanting to get an HD Flat Screen Television for a looooong time right now, and have just been waiting for the prices to drop to your range I could find the money for. When I saw this particular TCL 40-Inch, I knew that my time had come at last.

It is a wonderful first-time TV. I arrange it within minutes right out with the box. Very easy, absolutely no muss, no fuss. Used to have to buy a separate High-definition multimedia cable in order to connect it to my Digital video disc player, but that’s also cheap and simple. Plug and Play.

The image looks fantastic. It is such a huge improvement over my own analog TV which it was like seeing new movies. I would not have a Blu Ray gamer, but my Digital video disc player has an upscaling characteristic that lets us use the full 1080p potential of the screen. One problem I have had with the image is the Backlight Sensor, which senses the light in the room and adjusts the picture accordingly. I found this always left the image too dark, so I switched it off and do the manual placing.

Aside from the Backlight Sensor, it doesn’t have a lot of features. This is a bare-bones machine. Actually, my old analog TV could carry out more interesting things (like picture-in-picture), but to tell the truth I barely employed those. There are a handful of different monitor configurations, and you can zoom a photo if you want, but again, in addition to playing with that feature pertaining to awhile I by no means touched it once more.

I am not sure if it is the tv screen or my Dvd and blu-ray player, but a number of my old pre-widescreen Digital video disks, specifically my older Disney and Popeye cartoons, get automatically “widescreened” TCL L32HDF11TA to suit the screen. This can be a bummer because it is essentially pan-and-scan which means I lose a number of the image. I have checked out, but haven’t identified anyway to set the aspect ratio so it gives me a sq picture.

Overall, We are thrilled with the TCL 40-Inch. I needed some worries with regards to not getting a recognized brand name, but I have had this TV for a number of months with no difficulties at all. I would gladly buy a TCL TV once again.

I labored over online TV reviews for over a year, doing the research needed to make sure I was happy with my purchase. *My reviewer of choice is cnet* I had originally been leaning towards a LED LCD, since they supposedly had better bright room performance. I saw that the 7000 & 8000 had special filters to reduce reflections, and my interest was piqued.

I finally got the green light from my wife to make the purchase for my birthday (back in June)and immediately started looking at the reviews of the latest models. The Panasonic TC-PVT30 series and the Vizio XVT3SV series were both highly reviewed and I had been looking at those for awhile. The PN59D8000 review came out shortly after I started looking, and they mentioned that the high marks on the quality of that model would also apply to the PN59D7000. I decided this would be the best of both worlds: the higher quality of plasma with the increased brightroom performance. The price was right in PN64D7000 the middle of both as well.
I decided to purchase on Amazon without viewing the TV in the store since I’ve always heard that the calibration is very different, and store performance is not a good indicator of in-home performance. *There is a store setting, during setup.

The glare is noticable while the TV is off, but goes away for the most part once you turn it on. I did have an issue when my wife wanted to re-arrange the living room to where our 3 large living room windows were directly across from the TV instead of to the side. At that point, the glare was VERY bad during the day, even with the blinds closed. We ended up using it as an excuse to finally get curtains and the problem was solved. The remaining light was easily taken care of by the TV’s filter.

I fully calibrated the TV to the 8000 settings originally & the TV color looked a little off (7000 calibration wasn’t out yet). After digging a little more, I read a suggestion to wait to calibrate until the TV had broken in. I returned it to the default setings and waited a month. By then, the 7000 calibrations were out and cnet had reviewed the 7000 claiming it was the best value available. I had liked the default settings, but could tell they weren’t perfect. Once I used the cnet calibration, the TV was exactly on the money.

I first bought this Television set because of only a couple of characteristics. One it had been 55″ and two it was 240hz scanning as well as LED lighted. After I been with them delivered and hang up (read the other reviews to see the way to set it up) We noticed that that had the net apps along with 3d functions. I purchased the particular Toshiba 3 dimensional Blu ray Digital video disc player and I have to state that I was surprised about the picture quality. The TV can be so good I’m now taking into consideration switching through uverse to another cable Toshiba 55TL515U service provider. Simply n this specific TV do you know that the compression is bad coming from my current cable provider. I purchased your used Television and got the risk that it would work and I acquired lucky. In sub 1k prices it’s really a excellent TV for that price. I still have not figured out how to save your wireless circle setting or even my pass word for fliker however I’m taking care of that.

I was upgrading my personal bedroom tv moving from the sharp aquos lc42d64u. Here’s what I liked about it TV:
1. The actual 3d picture is fantastic as well as the 2d-3d converted photos. You feed as if you are right there.
2. The 2d picture is good however not as great as my personal2 sharp which is 4 years old.
3. I can’t care about all the world wide web features as I utilize my other gadgets to achieve those capabilities. IMO, the TV should just be a TV. I have a Tivo that may play netflix, any revue that can enjoy netflix, my panasonic 3 dimensional bluray player that can play netflix, you obtain the picture.
4. The television prompted my to perform a firmware upgrade. That warned me to never touch the TV before the upgrade is finished. My partner and i accepted and the progress bar showed for some seconds then it gone away. The TV was not responding to commands! I was not positive that that is normal and that i was scared to show it off as it may damage the TV. So I offered it 15 minutes i quickly pulled the power wire off. When I put it back on, it had taken like a minute for you to restart and it looked like the firmware was not altered. So I restarted the method and this time it done and it restarted on it’s own but the firmware version used to be not changed. The third time was the charm and the firmware had been upgraded. This is a little bit bit scary. Suppose it happens 2 years as time goes on when the TV is out of warranty. I think the actual firmware upgrades should just be when absolutely necessary.
Five. The warning communication when you display 3 dimensional pictures is quite bothersome.
6. Sound is ok. Not too horrible since other reviews have got mentioned but okay for a bedroom.
7. The TV itself seems to be nice and would fit with any decor. I love the clean lines and the hidden sound system. The finish is darkish hairline black. Less than gray as the photos7 might show.
7. The 42TL515U price is great but it is worth paying of the extra money to get the Three dimensional features.
9. Unaggressive 3d is perfect for this specific application.

I was concerned with getting something without having the opportunity experience it at all. I had been very satisfied and in many cases surprised upon shipping and use however. The picture is much better than what ended up considered great DLP’s because recenlty as 3 years previously. The TV though large is not at all heavy, since wife and I had no trouble taking this as a result of basement, a trip including WD-73738 a stair situation with 2 spins. Blue ray and Ps3 slim content displays together with great clarity i have a Sony 32″ 1080 Live view screen screen to compare together with. Picture adjustments are very good and allow regarding very large change. I’ve mine in a cellar room with two large egress windows which get direct sunlight and I don’t have the brightness etc near to max. One of the problems I’ve read can be viewing angle, for me though, the monitor is so large it is hard not to be at a good angle even just in a 15′ – 20′ space. If you are looking to get the most significant high quality screen to get the best price and do not need to mount to walls, I haven’t seen something better. Great product or service!

This TV is great! It does take some okay Sony KDL55EX720 tuning but it’s well worth the while. I didn’t read wherever on here wherever it said to alter the picture setting in order to VIVID. This establishing makes a HUGE difference within the crispness of the picture.

The place I bought it at has a web site but oddly enough this particular TV among other things which are in the store are certainly not on there. I always obtain great deals and large financing there. So I found this particular TV there for $1999.97 and they threw in a Sony 3 dimensional starter kit that included 2 pairs associated with Sony 3D cups, and an Alice in Wonderland 3 dimensional disc that was not compatible with the blu-ray participant [...]) but that was alright since I had seen the movie already as well as the TV has a built in 3D setting onto it. The bundle in addition came with the The new sony NSZ-GT1 WiFi-Enabled 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player Featuring Google TV ([...]) according to the invoice it was $550. worth of freebies.
